Manufactured from a standard container (usually 20ft or 40ft) - but with two sets of double doors (one at each end). Tunnel Containers are typically constructed by removing the solid end of the container and welding a new set of double doors in place. A tunnel container is great when additional access is required.

How are Tunnel Containers constructed?

A tunnel-container is manufactured from a standard shipping container but has double doors at both ends (double ender). From a standard 20 ft or 40 ft shipping container, the solid end of the container is cut off leaving it open, then a new set of double doors is welded in place creating a two-way access. A 'tunnel' can also be constructed from a high cube container, for clients needing the additional height.

What are tunnel shipping containers used for?

A tunnel shipping container can be used for a wide range of possibilities and are popular for a variety of reasons

  • Tunnel - In its name 'Tunnel Shipping Container' it can be used as a tunnel/bridge with two sets of double doors it can be used as a walk through or drive through for clients and customers.
  • Storage - These containers are ideal solution to storage for two purposes with it having two accesses it means clients can easily store stock for personal / business use and easily manage all the stock levels working from both sides (where in a standard shipping container you may struggle to get items from the back of the container). Also the second feature with storage in a tunnel shipping container, you can create smaller stores, if you had a 20ft tunnel shipping container you could split the container in half by adding a partition wall and create two 10ft storage containers both with double end doors.
  • Shipping - Although this isn't common (typically standard containers are used for this), tunnel containers can also be used for shipping goods overseas, to do this they can be fitted with valid CSC plates to certify they meet shipping industry standards.

What sizes do they come in?

They are typically manufactured from either 20ft or 40ft shipping containers, but they can also be bespoke built from a 10ft shipping container. Tunnel Containers can also be manufactured using high cube versions for when you need the extra height (9ft 6" rather than the standard 8ft 6").

Conditions they come in

Tunnel containers are available in both NEW and USED condition.

Why choose a Tunnel Shipping Container

Choosing a Tunnel shipping container is down to the need of the client, they are easily converted for multiple uses from storage to personnel bridges but they can be converted into a wide range of conversions. A great reason to choose a tunnel shipping container is they are ideal for storage as they can be loaded from both sides and making it easier to get stored goods out from either side without struggling to get goods from the back of a standard shipping container.

Tunnel Container Conversions

Tunnel containers can be converted in many different ways, we can convert to your specifications. We have previously modified tunnel containers to install lighting and side windows. Due to their construction material (corten steel) tunnel containers are ideal for secure storage, or modification projects where a strong shell is required. If you would like to see some conversions that we have previously done check out our conversions page.
