Breakdown of the Conversion Project

We regularly get enquires for office containers like this one, so for this conversion, we were able to give the client some additional guidance on the build including recommendations on materials and positioning of the personnel doors and the side windows.

This particular unit was based on a 20ft new shipping container and fitted with a steel personnel access door and windows with steel shutters to improve the security of the unit. It was lined with white-faced wallboards over 50mm Rockwool insulation this keeps the unit warm and easy to maintain. Basic electrics including lighting, double sockets, and a wall heater were also installed to make the unit function as an office. The shipping container office was painted externally and fitted with vinyl flooring which is easy to clean.

All of our office containers are bespoke, the client intended to use this unit on various construction sites, so the specification of the conversion was altered to suit this particular requirement. Office Container Conversion Breakdown

  • 20ft new ‘one trip’ shipping container – 20ft x 8ft x 8ft 6”.
    • Cargo doors removed and replaced with a new corrugated panel.
  • 2 steel personnel doors installed.
    • 1 located in the centre of the new 8ft corrugated panel.
    • 1 installed in the right-hand 20ft corrugated panel. (Off centre towards the rear 8ft panel).
  • 1000mm x 1000mm sliding windows with secure shutters installed.
    • Dressed with 50mm box section.
  • Internally the container floor was overlaid with vinyl flooring.
  • Internally the container was lined with 9mm melamine lining.
    • Over 50mm rockwool insulation.
    • Additional trim around the windows and doors and between panels.
  • The electrical installation included.
    • strip lights.
    • double sockets.
    • downward facing drawstring heater.
    • Surface-mounted electrics.
  • Resprayed externally in dark green – RAL6007.
