Two 10ft container conversions for a County Durham food establishment

Key Facts

Size: 2no. 10ft new build containers
Use: Catering containers
Location: Newcastle
Project Length: 2-weeks

The Conversion Brief

For this conversion we were approached by a previous customer looking to expand their catering fleet, we had previously worked with them on a catering container. This time we converted two new 10ft containers into food stands. Each unit was fitted with a hatch and hydraulic pistons were installed to open and close it. The client then completed the internal fit-out themselves.

Breakdown of the Project

We received an email from a client that had a previous container conversion for a mobile bespoke catering container. They required 2 additional containers converted for pop-up catering containers

The bespoke conversion of the two 10ft containers included fitting a serving hatch complete with hydraulic pistons, as well as numerous steel brackets for mounting electrics.  Having been positively received by the client, the finished products are now being utilised to serve food at a variety of events.

Mark Harrop, our container conversion co-ordinator, comments: “We have seen an increase in the number of enquiries from customers requesting quotes for bespoke container conversions in various sizes, ranging from 10ft to 40ft.  This most recent dual conversion project for a catering retailer was a tasty and rewarding challenge, and we’re delighted to have another satisfied customer.”

The modifications were completed to a strict deadline as they needed to be modified internally by the client and installed for the Christmas markets at Newcastle.

Conversion Breakdown

Each container conversion consisted of the below modifications.

  • 1no. 10ft new build container (10ft x 8ft x 8ft 6” external approx.)
  • A single serving hatch 2500mm x 1200mm serving hatch in the 10ft corrugated panel.
    • Assisted by gas struts.
    • (Each unit had the hatch located in opposite sides so they could be situated side by side at events.)
  • Additional plates were welded throughout the internal of the container for mounting plates for electrics.
