The Conversion Brief

Our customer was wanting to create smaller stores for a self-storage site, we used a 40ft new ‘one trip’ shipping container and fitted 4no. single access cargo doors.

Breakdown of the Project

One of our self-storage customers approached us to add some small stores for the storage fleet. Rather than using individual stores the customer requested a 40ft new ‘one trip’ shipping container to be split to form 4no. 10ft stores.

The 40ft container was quickly moved into the workshop where 4no. apertures were cut along the 40ft side and fitted with a single ISO door with secure lock boxes. Internally 3no. steel partitions were installed to form the 4no. 10ft single accessible stores. The unit was delivered to their self-storage yard and have had additional multi stores ordered after the successful hires of the original stores.

Conversion breakdown

  • 40ft new ‘one trip’ standard height container we kept the original cargo doors on the end operational.
  • We fitted 3no. internal steel partitions to form 4no. 10ft areas, the partition walls were painted grey to match the interior.
  • There was 4no. single new ISO doors with lock boxes fitted
  • Full respray externally in the clients requested RAL colour we masked of the seals and locking gear along the 4no. fitted ISO doors.

We fabricated the container on a short time frame to suit the client’s tight deadline of 2-3 weeks.
